In the bunch at Castle Combe

Attack at Castle Combe

posted in: Races, Solyo | 0

Last thursday I was racing at the summer series at Castle Combe with two of my future team mates. It was a really hot day and we had driven up the M5 on the 220 mile journey to this classic motor racing circuit.

I sat in the bunch and saved my legs until the bell, when I attacked solo and managed to keep the chasing peloton at bay until we hit the strong headwind on the long finish straight.

I was on my last legs and giving it everything I had as the sprinting peloton chased me down, with two riders managing to catch me just before the finish line, but I was pleased with a strong third place finish, especially at castle combe where solo breaks hardly ever make it due to the flat course and strong headwinds.
