Goodbye Madrid

Goodbye Madrid

Finally the time has come and my racing season in Spain is over for 2016. I have trained, traveled and raced over 30 races in the Spanish winter cold, the mild spring, the intense summer heat, and the hot late summer, but now my bike is packed up, and it is time for the short journey to Madrid airport to catch the flight back to the UK, ready for my final race of the season in Dorset, England, tomorrow morning – after which it will be back home to Cornwall and the wind and rain.

It has been a good journey, and I have experienced a lot since arriving in Spain, especially the tough racing in the mountains and racing in the Copa de Espana. It has been great to work alongside my companions in the team, and I am grateful to the team directors and staff for the work and dedication they put into keeping the team on the road.

We have a lot to look forward to and work towards as we prepare for the 2017 season with Pizzeria Espanola, when I will return to Madrid in 4 months, so watch this space!
