High Winds at Lands End

Windy training ride

We get really high winds at Lands End and on this ride it was gusting up to 30mph. It can be a bit dodgy riding the exposed main roads in these coastal winds so I normally use the country lanes which are less exposed to the Atlantic gusts.

This ride was particularly windy, with several branches and parts of small trees having been broken and blown down along the way. It can be a bit frustrating riding in these conditions but it is good when doing the winter base miles.

On this ride I head out from St Buryan taking the Lands End loop past Treen and the Porthcurno turn-off, joining the A30 near Lands End and heading up through Sennen, past Lands End airport, up to St Just, then taking the loop to Penzance, Mousehole and back to Buryan, although not all of the route is on the video.

If you check out the closing part of the video you can get an idea of how windy it really is.
