XXXII Trofeo San Gil Abad

posted in: Races, Solyo | 0

Today we headed to Motilla de Palancar, a 2 ½ hour drive, for the Trofeo San Gil Abad.

The race was 130km, mostly flat, but with a few climbs. There was a lot of attacking throughout the race, including myself when I decided to run an aggressive race, but I attacked way too much, and my legs exploded during the climb.

I managed to get back in the group after the climb, but the suffering wasn’t over, as my legs were tortured on the next climb, and eventually I was off the back of the peloton. I continued to keep working with a small group, battling against the strong wind.

It’s safe to say that I was glad to finish the race today, and I performed well, considering I burnt a lot of matches in fruitless attacks.

It is now September and I still have races coming up this month. Bring it on!
